R & B group from Southampton. Moved to London in 1964 where they played as backing band to Rod Stewart.

THE KIRKBYS - IT'S A CRIME (1966)



Originally known as The Panthers the band performed at The Cavern on numerous occasions supporting The Beatles in 1962. One show, broadcast on Radio Luxembourg, saw them introduced as The Kirkbys by Bob Wooler, the presenter of the show "Sunday Night At The Cavern", Wooler felt that changing the name of the group to that of their home town would help expand it's fan base. The Name stuck, and the group released the single "It's A Crime" in 1966, at the tail end of the Mersybeat era.

Featuring Mike d'Abo best known as the second singer for Manfred Mann,namely on their No.1 hit "Mighty Quinn", and as the composer of "Handbags and Gladrags".

CHAPTER FIVE - YOU CAN'T MEAN IT (1966)


Formed in Barrow-in-Furness in 1964.This band original song is the B-Side of their first single a cover of Maxine Browns"Anything That You Do Is Alright" 

THANE RUSSAL - SECURITY (1966)


Although being part of the Rolling Stones entourage Thane Russal never really made it except in Australia where this was a hit.
